Get a feel for the place artist Martin Carter calls Home, explore the historic town of Ipswich in Suffolk. The place of Martin Carter’s initial art training in the mid 1990’s. To be the place he now works and resides. From his garden view; see the place he almost lost his life 20 years ago and where this idea all began.

Revisiting another stepping stone in Martin Carter’s early art training in the late 1990’s, looking at the historical town of Colchester. Observing the beauty in the decay of the walls in one of the first Roman settlements in England. Much of the towns history is revealed upon the urban street furniture.

Explore the Suffolk coastal town of Aldeburgh which has influenced many artists though the ages; and still draws many artists to the Suffolk coast. A place Martin Carter spent 15 years walking to discover the effect of the corrosive atmosphere along the seafront, to offer a glimpse through the layers of erosion.

Walking the streets of Paris is evocative towards an earlier period in art history, when Paris was the epicentre of thinking minds for future artist's endeavour. Exploring here the urban furniture to capture images and find which of my photography categories dominated the landscape.

Wandering the districts of Barcelona, to observe and document the urban art scene, found to adorn every kind of surface, from the shutters of the shops, the billboards, lamp posts, posters on walls and the urban street furniture. A glorious mixture of printed, sprayed and drawn artistic expression decorate the landscape.

Distance from Home: 1568 Miles Return
Discovering the energetic city of Madrid in between the bustling heat of summer - mid day, was a challenge to the human condition, but also fascinating to observe the balance between urban areas and many of the natural parks. Nature can flourish with our urban environments, indoors was liveable but at what cost.

Distance from Home: 1802 Miles Return
Exploring the Coimbra area in Portugal was like taking a step back in time, living in nature, with ancient woodlands and mountains on the doorstep. A little further afield small villages dotted about with personal vine yards. The architecture and urban environment scorched daily by the sun to parch the lands.

The humidity of the atmosphere has a distinct and long lasting effect upon the landscape and in ‘Gran Canaria’ Martin Carter found himself closest yet to entropy!. The surrounding desert environment, with the bleaching effect of the scorching sun and heat of the day upon the urban landscape and nature are vivid.
