When Martin Carter was at Art School he had a life
affirming moment, coming close to death gave an
appreciation and curiosity for the smaller things in
life which allow for the bigger things to happen.
This split second moment; has evolved over 20 years
of exploration to become a new visual language,
which observes our Natural World as a cycle of Causes
and their Effects which leave an impression.
Sometimes this impression is literal, other times it
can be seen as a physical exchange between the
Forces of Nature upon the surface of the individual
objects that make up our everyday landscapes.

Artist Profile
Thought Process
Martin Carter is fascinated by Colour, Texture and Natural formed Composition found within Nature. Cause and Effect captured through random images, each beautiful in themselves but when combined tell the profound story of life upon Earth, looking at a simplification of a coexistence of life in these different environments that we retreat to, to find comfort from an ever increasingly stressful world.
Photography Process
His Landscape Photography is taken from two different perspectives; to explore the history of art in the landscapes we see. Firstly to capture the landscape as a whole environment, follow the lay of the land toward horizons with an impressionists lens. Secondly at a mid-macro level, a collection of individual things, coexisting in abstract expressionist form, an overall balance to Lifes cycle.
Drawing Process
The Pen Ink Drawings that Martin creates, observe and capture the seasons in the landscape, from winter monotones, through to spring, summer and autumn colours. Exploring the lay of the land, and how generations have moulded what we see, looking towards horizons, observing a patchwork of colours and textures that make up the surrounding environment , where ancesters laid settlement.
Education
Since 2016 Martin has lived and worked from his studio in Suffolk, prior to this he enjoyed an established career working in publishing and marketing. He became well travelled and privately educated at museums and art galleries around the globe. Swapped the daily London commute for fields of Suffolk and a more natural way to live a life. Before this studied Art at Ipswich Art School 1996-97, then Art and History of Art Degree at Colchester Institute 97-2000; having been creative since early childhood.
Studio Practice
Becoming a full time artist in 2016, was a fulfilment of a dream life for Martin. All paths alligned to make it happen. Opening the art studio during 2017 gave the opportunity to take the vision behind UNSEENBEAUTY to an online audience. To capture his sense and curiosity for how we naturally see the world, through observations of colour, texture and found compostition, finding a balance between working to satisfy a hunger and finding his own original way of expressing that.

Contemplating a Slower Pace for the world, a
reconnection with Nature and our Environment
to capture a Peace of Mind that conjures the

the realm of photography!. In a New Way to
connect to Real Feelings (like Vincent) that talks
of human emotion through the eyes of an artist.
Martin Carter’s thinking inspired by a combination
of historical figures which connect ideas raised
through Ancient Philosophy; a natural curiosity
for the old time Explorers in new lands; a mind
set for Physics and Mathematics in Nature with
the Classical Training of a Painter.
All the while looking through the lens of a
camera, to enhance a knowledge of our
Natural World and its Perils. To influence a
Positive Emotive Experience based on our
every day life, a more caring approach towards
each other, Fine Art to infuse human walls.
